What is HDR photography?

HDR blends several photos of the same scene, each taken at a different exposure, into one balanced image. A dark exposure captures the bright window; a bright exposure captures the shadows; and the frames in between fill in the rest. Merged together, they produce a photo that looks the way your eye actually sees the room.

How to shoot HDR brackets

• Use a tripod so every frame lines up perfectly.
• Enable auto-bracketing (AEB) for 3–5 exposures, typically -2, 0, +2 EV.
• Shoot in RAW to give your editor maximum detail to work with.
• Turn on interior lights and open blinds for a balanced base.
